The children's museum Junibacken is located on Djurgården in Stockholm. Astrid Lindgren's fairy tale characters fill the museum with their stories.
History
Staffan Götestam was the initiator of Junibacken after he found most museums boring when he was a child. He loved theater when he was little and wanted to combine a museum with theater and he got it. On June 8, 1996, his idea was in place at Djurgården.
What is available at Junibacken
The fairy tale train is perhaps the most fantastic attraction at the museum. On the Sagotåget, you ride a small carriage through Astrid Lindgren's fairy tale world. You will hear her voice and see figures from her books. Villa Villekulla - stands upstairs and maybe Pippi looks over. Theater is also sometimes played on this floor. Inside the museum you walk around and see various lovely buildings and activities for the children to play with. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep up with the children's steps in the museum!
Restaurant
There is a large restaurant inside the museum with a lovely view of the water.
